From ESA: what defines the upper limit on the impactor? It is a lot smaller than the largest asteroids.

Edward thinks (from 7 years ago) that this choice is mostly arbitrary. It helps to make the slider bar usable. If we could drop the 'Value' label we could increase the length of the slider and increase the range. (We can't at the moment because we have to leave enough room for the label in all translations.
