Basically a simple feature I would love to have, an option so you could chat on 
IRC (namely #hedgewars but other channels too) in-game, both online and 
offline. It would also be useful for the developers and other users when play 
testing new versions.

sheepluva ran a channel bot a few years ago.
I agree this would be a nice-to-have.  Greater IRC integration in general.
There are times I can't conveniently run the frontend, but I can stay in irssi 
pretty much always.
