Details of hardware used

Could you provide some details on the hardware that you are using for MITRO? I have been able to piece a few things together. I am not too interested in knowing about all of the sensors (kinect, LIDAR, etc) and am mostly interested in the battery systems and what type of PC you are using.

• Which roboclaw model are you using to drive the Parallax motor kit?
• Is the roboclaw connected to an SLA battery and what is the capacity?
• What kind of PC are you powering with the OpenUPS? (my guesses are mini-itx or Intel NUC)
• Any idea what the peek power draw is on the entire system? Would it feasible to power the PC and motors with 2 OpenUPS units connected with a Y-PWR adapter board (also sold by mini-box)?

Yeah sure:

• We use a 2x30A Roboclaw from Robotshop.
• Two 7 Ah lead acid batteries are used to power the motors, screen and some of the sensors.
• The PC is a low power i7 mini ITX powered by a 4 cell 8000 mAh LiPo battery via the OpenUPS.
• We'd have to do some tests to get the peak power draw but the problem with the OpenUPS is the max current is 10A which is enough for the PC but not much else.

Thanks for responding so quickly. It's a shame the OpenUPS doesn't handle more power. By connecting two units to a Y-PWR power board they could provide 20amps but I don't know if that would be enough.

I've looked into the OceanServer Battery cluster products (http://www.ocean-server.com/overview.html) in the past but the pricing is prohibitive for me.
