Please see the note regarding the elaborate I:Bxxx, ODC:xxx, I: may be better. It was to indicate not allowed variants,, but to show them as done when the quests are listed.

Historically the OxC codes were used because Blizzard seems to use some quests as markers and doing specific things caused those markers to be triggered. And the I: codes are mainly used to distinguish quests that are not available once another is taken. However, we have also used I: codes to indicate a quest of the other faction that is cleared by Blizzard when you do one. However, I don't really worry about those that much anymore. We can include them or not as people want. I don't think you really need both, but I can see a case for either the I: or the OxC codes. What is it you are trying to convey?
