I get same problem but with gtalk on android, not on connectbot. I have a
Desire Z. I think its sumthing in android tht makes the problem. What u can try
is go to settings, then language n keyboard, and then input (the second one)
and the first one should be sumthing like hardware keyboard settings. Change
that to swedish and all should be fine :=)

I have the same problem. Connectbot v1.7.1. The problem also appears in
Connectbot dialogs, for example when entering the host name for logging in.

Oh and the OSK works normally, it's just the HW keyboard that has this problem.

This is explained here;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9453659

So, there are no lower case åäö in the keymap file at all. It's interesting
that you actually CAN type in lower case in many programs, though. :)

Since many people don't want to root their phones to fix this, it would be cool
to have some "hack" in connectbot for this..

Actually there is allready a fix by androidsuomi.fi and Woltage. Who have made
a for of the Irssi connectbot version that force the scandic characters as
lowercase: http://bit.ly/fQK61A

Yes, but that doesn't actually fix the real problem.
woltage's fix only forces "å", "ä" and "ö" always to lowercase and doesn't
do anything with the Norwegian characters atm.

We need a real fix that allows you to type both upper and lowercase characters
normally.

Haprog: the fix works now also with norwegian characters.

The fix in the irssi connectbot build is now a fully working one, with shift
support both uppercase and lowercase work. Also TAB works now in ICB.

Those fixes should be added to the ConnectBot build tree.

I haven't seen the irssi connectbot fix, but I change the way some keys are
handled just now. Let me know if the latest version changes anything.

Kenny you should import the fix since it also is an optional menusetting and it
also contains fixes for other desire z issues like Tab, del/backspace, @/~,
fn+sym. Why reinvent the wheel :)
