Discourse OP Flair

Investigate if there is a plugin for Discourse that will display some kind of flair to mark a comments author if the author is the original poster of the thread.

This will help discussion participants recognize who the author of the post is.

initial research finds that there is no plugin available to do this.

I've analyzed the HTML/CSS structure and I think I've got a solution using javascript to inject the OP flair for all occurrences of the OP within a thread.

This functionality will be bundled into a theme component.

More information to be provided after further testing on the staging server.

Component Behavior

• For any thread
• find the first occurrence of .topic-owner css class
• extract user name from this DOM element
• span.first.username
• add flair HTML/CSS to all occurrences of this entry on the page
