Description

This is the issue for all moderation meeting agendas and notes. This replaces prior agenda issues. It will also host the currently active action items for easy access here at the top of the root issue. This root agenda should be maintained by project leads and Engagement head.

Started a discussion with @ttaloute on capturing Discord 5 metrics and how much of an impact that makes. Assessing whether that engagement strategy works. Might also include Google Analytics. Need to make sure we also consider control groups. @SirAh0 this should be a discussion point as part of our meeting. Controls might be able to be the whole post as an average, but we also have to be concerned about outliers. Might still be better to have an actual Discord 5 control group each week too. Reminder that we care about these metrics, but mostly just to see if our strategy is somewhat working.

Discussion point, how to provide more value to the discussion by providing summaries and staff notices. @ttaloute is going to test this out using the ENS paper thread that currently has 24.

• Create a summary comment that states what has happened in the thread so far
• Links to "important" comments that ask great questions, provide great solutions/ideas
• A draft of the staff note that would go up on the thread itself.

Discussed the moderation efforts and value. Discussion "summarization" is something that could do as a bounty if we had a template. Either way, we need a review process and a template Action Item make templates/examples and how to socialize those/include in the issue ticket itself. Whereas the staff note is something that the team could do, but means we all have moderator status and access. Doing three of the discussion summaries as examples is good, maybe not a template. Maybe some description of the intent. Action Item ENS, What is a DAO, and Flash Loan

We did not get to items 2 and 3, so we will pick up with those next week and potentially in some issue tickets.

Recommendations for top discussions on a new wallet is going to go into the research channel.

• The ticket tool might also be able to manage the grant application/approach. Probably need to do an engagement grant/bounty breakout call with @SirAh0 @ttaloute @zubepaul

Discussion Summary template

• In 1-2 sentences, what is the research summary about (the thread), steal some of that tldr
• Summarize where the conversation has taken us to this point. Might need to pull them all together
• Here are the questions raised and here are the proposed answer
• Where are the limits and the potentials. What are the barriers for action/application
• Identify the branches away from the summary, main idea, and toward something else. If something else, maybe a call for a Discussion post
• Link to terminology in a glossary potentially. This is something we can do as a staff notice as well.

Cohort Concerns/Strategy

• Nominate for comment of the month and also add a word of encouragement/thanks in the nomination itself.
• In the community or research channel, we can give public acknowledgement of the good work people are doing.
• How would we help to course correct? Sometimes on Reddit there are bots that help to course correct. Potentially automate a correction. This has been considered lower quality. We can potentially make some standard responses. Need to be created. Action Item Create Standard moderation responses. Action Item Identify what Discourse bots might exist.

This is an optional meeting.

• Bounty Reviews/Questions: An opportunity to discuss questions you might have about moderation bounties that are actively being worked on.
• Moderation Response Language: This is an action item and a to do. This needs to be developed and should be tracked by an issue.
• Moderation Skill Path: In support of onboarding issue #103 and a potential future state of working up to a moderation status, a skill tree should be developed. This is related to some of the job calls that have existed in the past. Needs an issue.

• Potentially of value to the community as it does seem to get some impact on the forum, but this is perceptual. It is difficult to collect this data, but it seems like it is doing something. We're going to do a poll in the Community section of Discord Action Item Template of Discussion Summary
• Template is helpful for people because it is easy to catch up on.
• It is helpful to have more of a narrative. It makes sense to make reference to specific comments.
• The thread summary by Raha is a decent start, but we need to make our own template that helps out.

Covered some meeting approaches and goals. Tania update- working on the levels and tasks document and how this impacts the GTM board. Start off with a few things first

• Probably trying to do too many at once on the board. Identify what the most important tasks are. Level 1 first. Ready to do some curation.
• Also focusing on the forum a little more. Gets some benefit and get directed toward a specific comment. Use the Moderation channel as a way to help direct here and give some starting spots.

And then, how do we make similar pipelines for other verticals. *Action item is to make a bounty for how to comment guide integration. Bounty for plagiarism ask for API on tooling and if the community doesn't know, it might become a Level 1 bounty GTM Tracking board Yesh and Tania are going to connect about making sure that the bounty board and the GTM board are speaking the same language.

@okoba I don't think we need to be as concerned with efficiency with a level 1 bounty. It ultimately is a bounty where the task gets completed to requirement or not. If it is inefficient, that might be ok because we don't currently have a detection system outside of a manual process.
