UBLOX: checksum error #125

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. connect ubox
2. upload "GPS_UBLOX_test"
3. monitor serial

What is the expected output?
I guess I should not see the error: GPS_UBLOX: checksum error
also I would expect that the number of sat > 0

What do you see instead?
above

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
last from 9/21 subversion

Please provide any additional information below.
I could see using the ublox ucenter evaluation the number of satellites before;
my gps came with default settings - not setup for autopilot so was default 9600
- funny that I bought in the diydrones store and asked to come... anyway I
guess it's not a big deal to fix that. I loaded the new firmware 6.0 and the
configuration file " ublox5_helix_v11"

also tried version 6.02 with the same results

The checksum error is probably due to the serial buffer filling up between the
time the port is opened and the time the library starts polling for data. It's
harmless.

The satellite count looks wrong though. Are the other parameters correct?

The sat count has been a known issue in the libary for a while. We need to fix
that.

The checksum error is simply generated when there is a glitch in the serial
comm between the ublox and the APM. If you see one occasionally it is no
problem. If you see them frequently then you need to debug your setup. You
may have a poor cable connection or a damaged ublox or a poor connection
between the ublox and the ublox adapter board, etc.

Thanks for the update, I'll keep an eye on it to see if the error is persistent
or not.
