wishlist item for weapon screen: autofire phaser mode #345

Autofire phaser mode would pop the tactical officer out of the gunnery seat and into a tacsit map view, where they could select targets, leave aiming and firing phasers to the computer, and still control precise timing of firing of torpedoes and missiles.Tactical officer could then also set a minimum charge level at which to fire, so the autofire function wouldn't just spam phasers at minimum charge whenever the target was in range and inside the firing arc.

Ideally this map would show firing arcs for each ship (ideally, the nav/helm station would also be able to see firing arcs for any ship that had been sufficiently scanned by science to recognize their ship type, so helm could have the fun of trying to dance around behind or around or whatever and avoid their gunnery arcs).

Ideally the tacsit screen would also allow persistent selection of a specific target, so that if/when the tactical officer turns off autofire they can hop into the gunnery seat and still see the red targeting crosshairs pasted onto the ship they've been shooting at.

FWIW, the weapons station is deliberately more "Millenium Falcon" and less "Enterprise".

Yeah, that tracks. The design intent is clear in that way.

I think some players would prefer one and some would prefer the other. Being strongly in the tactical camp myself, and having watched a series of nerds try the Millenium-style weapon station and quit in frustration, I'm inclined to want the other option available when I'm hosting a game.
