Submodule in detached head state #181

On recursive clone, the smithlab_cpp comes with a detached head.

Aren't detached heads normal for submodules? They naturally don't sync with recent commits, and I thought most of our other software had detached heads?

I updated the smithlab_cpp submodules on both branches and that should fix the problem
