[EN] Use deep learning models to upscale textures, since images are compressed #16

Open JeS24 opened 1 year ago

JeS24 commented 1 year ago

Feature request / Suggestion

While compressed images do not seem to significantly affect the texture quality, at least for the simplified mesh, we can use DL-based super-resolution techniques to upsample textures.

Current behaviour

Currently, we use compressed images and also downsample the textures. Upsampling textures, especially for the raw mesh seems reasonable, as long as there are no unwrapping issues.
