The goal is to make it easier to communicate with the modem on a higher level, through defineable backends that provide custom implementations for different GSM hardware chips.

@thijstriemstra I'm still working on this stuff, just busy with relocating from .za to .nl, I'll ping you again when I'm back in a normal work rhythm again :)
