Data compression proxies wont let me connect to the main server #881

How to reproduce

  1. For chrome: Install and enable this: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/data-compression-proxy/ajfiodhbiellfpcjjedhmmmpeeaebmep?hl=en (Opera Turbo is also affected) (it is a weak proxy, users Ip address can still be seen)
  2. Go to the main server; http://play.pokemonshowdown.com/ "could not connect to server"

Other servers such as http://frost.psim.us/ work fine. This is a clone of issue #783 with more info

That other servers work fine is pretty strange. I can't think of much that the main server specifically does differently.

I can't reproduce this with Chrome 34.0.1847.131 m

I am using this extension with Chrome 36.0.1985.18 and the page loads fine.

Oh, I know! Some of its proxies are probably blocked by the main server's proxy blocklist. In which case this isn't a bug, it's intentional because proxies are often used to get around IP bans on the main server.
