I have the same problem, after upgrading to 1.12.

This needs to be fixed as soon as possible as it's a problem rSBT didn't
introduce
untill the combination of the 2 apps.
Please update as many of us were forced to restore iPhones just to regain the
system
iPod icon.

Running 1.12 on 1.0.2. Played around with the number of dock icons available,
and
POOF, there went my ipod icon. Nothing I do appears to re-create it. I've tried
on
restoring defaults by touching the firmware field and still nothing.
This needs to be upgraded in priority since it effectively disables half the
functionality of the device.

You can open the file
/System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/DisplayOrder.plist
and remove -MediaPlayer from the end of the com.apple.mobileipod-MediaPlayer
entry.

The suggestion by jcwyles works. People can modify DisplayOrder.plist with
TextEdit
directly on their iPhone, or SSH into the phone and do it that way.
Organize your icons the way you want prior to editing DisplayOrder.plist.
Reordering
with Customize 1.12 / rSBT, it will re-insert the "-MediaPlayer" string and
cause
SpringBoard/SummerBoard not to recognize the app. A temporary solution until
the
next revision is out.
