I'm guessing that the way to go would be to roll this into the whole CanvasHack deathstar.

In fact, no. The way to go is to spin it off into its own LTI. w00t!

Y'know, this is going to get backed by the as-yet-unpushed ReflexiveCanvasLTI, which is going to incorporate battis/batch-action to handle installation. Which should become, one hopes, self-documenting.

Here's hoping.
