Nunchuk Problem #97

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Power on WII without nunchuk, select a game needing nunchuk in USBLoaderCFG
61 and start it. Now connect the nunchuk and play. Nothing appends, everything
ok.
2. Choose Home and return on WII menu.
3. Select identically the game and start it -> Exception DSI occurs each time.
It's the same with other games, in fact, if the nunchuk still connected.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Black screen with DSI and needed to reboot with the ON/OFF button in front off
the wii.

What version of the loader are you using?
USBLoaderCFG version 61 (release).

What is your System Menu version (e.g. 4.2u)?
3.4E upgrade in 4.1E with pimp my wii 2.11

What is your media type (HDD, USB Flash, SD/SDHC)?
USB HDD VERBATIM 500 GB

How is your media formatted (wbfs, fat32, ntfs)?
FAT32

Which cios are you using and which version (222, 249v??)?
222

Please provide any additional information below.
Homebrew 1.0.8 + Pimp my wii 2.11

If Pimp my Wii 2.11 start with the Nunchuck, it's difficult to naviguate and
often Exception DSI occurs after few seconds.

Hope that help you to solve this bug.

If you need some information, call me.
Pat

One thing :

I'm with the wiimote and nunchuk behind it !!!

It works fine for me.
How do you start the loader, through a forwarder?
Maybe it's a bad forwarder, try running through HBC.
If that doesn't help, try v61-compat and v60. Does it work with any of those?

Original comment by ogg...@gmail.com on 5 Dec 2010 at 4:09

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Though HBC and forwarder v6, it's the same problem.

Have you test with wiimote ???

I modify with v61-compat and v60 ASAP and respond to you.

The info file generate by Pimp to wii may be an help to you ?

Ok, thanks for the work around !!!

With V60 and V61-compat, that's work with a nunchuk behind a wiimote.
With V61-release (your last publication, in fact), still the problem
(screenshot include in this message).

What's your recommandation ?
Stay in v60 with V61-compat i think.
Do you have an idea to solve v61 ? Do you want other informations from my WII ?

Best regards.

NB : Your software is wonderful !!

Patrick,

I just tested cfg61.dol on my wii 4.2U, soft-modded with cios 222, wbfs
partition on Seagate HD.
I tried exactly what you described and everything is working fine for me. So I
guess it was not an issue with cfg61.dol, it maybe some specific setting on
your wii setting.

Thanks Mr. OggZee for all wonderful work. :)

Hello !

I've test by downgrade all IOS patched with Trucha Bug, remove IOS 202, 222,
223, 224, 236, 249, 250 and HBC.
After that, i've install all, HBC, cIOS to use USB, DVD and so on.

==> The bug still here !!!

Do you know how re-install 4.1E complytely, if something is wrong on my
specific bug ? Or have you found something with a nunchuk ?

Best regards.
Pat.

Patrick,

How about upgrade your console to 4.2 and re-soft-modded and go from there. I
have no problem on my console.

Good luck.

Hello,

I've test 4.2E, same things, backward in 3.4E, same.

I've apply Comex Formater and install all again, same thing.

V61 with nunchuk => crash with "Exception DSI"
Without          => still fine.

An idea ?

Hi, I have a different problem with the v68b2, when the wiimote nunchuck is
connected to the pointer only moves to the upper right. With the wiimote
pointer does not happen. Do not think it's the nunchuck stick because it works
well with games.

I would recommend you update your wiis with pimp my wii 2.20 and try to format
your SD card with the SD formatter then try again and see if keeps happening.

Original comment by mrjoanm...@gmail.com on 21 Apr 2011 at 4:01

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
The problem is not CIOS, and formatted the SD and the problem persists with cfg
beginning 222 and 249, the same happens with previous versions, the pointer is
inclined toward the top right, if I can move the pointer with the stick but
with the slight inclination, my wii is 4.2U and HDD format is NTFS all works
fine, except that it is this detail.

I'm having the same issue with my original nunchuck the came with my Wii.
I think the error is in libogc-wiiuse.

When I have that nunchuck connected before starting CFG, CFG will crash witha
dsi exception.
When I connect the nunchuck after loading cfg the pointer (IR sensor) is
lagging and when pointing away from the screen the cursor appear in the middle
of the screen and moves quickly to the bottom left of the screen.
The lag also appears in the Homebrew channel, I didn't test whether the
scrolling with the nunchuck goes screwy as I don't have any homebrew other than
CFG currently.
My fake nunchuck works fine (It has philips screw on it's connector obviously
fake)

Also when using my GH: World Tour guitar the cursor keeps trying to go to the
left.

All controllers work fine in official Wii Games.

(I connect my nunchuck on wiimote but the game cannot find nunchuck that i
connected) but work fine while play on original disc channel.

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Yes, your problem is different but I'll try to help you.
The difference between running a game via CFG to running it via the disc
channel is the IOS you use.
When running via CFG you are using a cIOS, while running through the disc
channel you use the original IOS as defined by the game (tmd).

You should update whatever cIOS you use with CFG to it's latest good version. A
good way to do this is using ModMii (Use google) and running it's Wii Modding
wizard which will generate a set of cIOS wads that you can install to get all
the latest recommended cIOS installed.

If you are sure you are using CFG with cios56 d2x v6 at slot 249, I'm not sure
why it isn't working and since this place is mostly for bug reports you might
want to open a topic at a Wii modding forum of your choice so more people will
see your issue and try to help you. I'd recommend you also include a syscheck
(Google it) of your Wii to make sure everything is installed correctly.

On the original bug:
I think this bug is due to libogc not initiliazing the calibration values of
the joystick correctly (Opened a topic at their forums here:
http://devkitpro.org/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2913)
I think CFG is crashing due to this bad calibration values causing the cursor
to move so sharply in one direction during CFG's loading phase that it causes
it to go outside of the boundries of the screen leading to a crash (Perhaps due
to trying to draw the cursor outside of the screen?). the idea being that CFG
isn't initilizing the boundries that limit the cursor movement until it
finished loading. I didn't check CFG's source but I have a feeling it's
something like this.

It seems ok, but you do have remains of either cioscorp/darkcorp on your Wii,
you either want to have it fully installed or not at all. (It allows loading
burned games from the disc channel at the cost of replacing all of your IOS
files with hacked ones which some users don't like)
To fully remove it you can get ModMii to generate a set of clean IOS wads by
running it's wizard and telling it to update active IOS and installing them.

Your cIOS look fine so other stuff you can try is to make sure you don't have
any game compatibility options on by default in the config.txt and you should
also look in the settings.cfg file if you have one.
Also try running CFG via both the Homebrew channel and forwarder channel and
checking if it works then.
And you might also want to try WiiFlow, you can get it from ModMii to.
Also try reseting your Wii Remotes sync with the Wii: Unplug your Wii, wait 5's
and then plug it back in and then you need to hold the sync button on the Wii
during the health check screen and then turn it off to delete sync info from
the Wii and then resync them by pressing the sync button on the Wii once and
the one beind the battery cover on the Wii Remote.
