How many games do you have? Also, do you use gametdb? If you do so you may
delete it to see if its faster, the slow startup most likely comes because of
too much to load for wiiflow.

I have 152 games. I have never download gametdb.

I just updated to r663 and I am still seeing 5 minute startup, also when I have
it return to wiiflow when exiting a game it still takes 5 minutes.

How about enable sd log? Open up your wiiflow.ini and set the sd logging to yes
in the DEBUG section. After wiiflow booted exit it and then post the
wiiflow.log somewhere here.

I enabled logging and it is not giving a log file to post. So unless I cannot
find it, it is not giving a log file.

I have the same problem using r663. Startup time up to 6 minutes. Also not
generating wiiflow.ini file anymore. Is that disabled in latest versions? I
need to redirect wiiflow to deposit its files on sd card and NOT on usb

Sorry I have not been on here as of late. I updated to the version you have
linked to. I am still seeing a 5-6 minute game start up and it does not have
the loading icon rotating it only shows a blank screen until the game loads.
But that is the only problem I am seeing so far. I was able to get the wiiflow
debug to print to the SD so I have attached that and I also included my system
check file so you can see if maybe there is an IOS that may be causing issues.

That looks like cIOS issue yea, because if wiiflow boots fine at first, it most
likely has problems to find your HDD again after IOS reload, you may set the
game to 222, hermes 5.1 rodries mod base IOS60 is one of my favourite IOS since
its very compatible and still fast.

I ran wiiflow and it does have a delayed start up. I ran the game using 222 v4
and still the same delay. Since I do not have internet access at home right
now I will update to 5.1 and let you know the out come.

updated to r743 and check that i have cios 222 hermes rodries mod v6 Still
the same problem remains:

1. slow (2min)startup time and 5-6 min waiting time to load the game.
2. No wiflow.ini found

Have you already tested it with a second sd card/second usb device? May it
fails somewhere there, also is there a wiiflow version where it works fine?

I was previously using Wiifllow 3.1 r249. Everything loaded up right away. Very
little waiting time if not at all.

But you were right with the sd card.

I cleared my sd files from any unnecessary files and moved the remaining files
to a new sd card a SanDisk Ultra ii (class 4) - 2gb. I was previously using a
normal Sandisk microSD 8gb packed with large number of roms and downloads (1.5
gb free space).

Wiiflow Mod r743 had a normal startup time so did the games I launched (15-30s)

Im no expert, but it seems that wiiflow is going through all the files in the
sd card every startup and game launch. Thats why it took such a long time to
cope with 6gb of files. Is there a way to fix this? I would very much like to
use my old 8db sd so I can have my roms (5 gb) stored in it.

The only problem that still remains is that I cant find the wiiflow.ini and the
wiflow continues to save files to the usb and not in the sd card. Is there a
manual way to make wiiflow generate wiiflow.ini and save files such as covers
etc to the sd card ?

That is kinda strange, because since r116 the sd card file is the same. And no,
I do not go through all the files or so, do you have that problems with other
loaders as well? (especially usb loader gx) Also, you may delete the wiiflow
folder on root and the apps/wiiflow folder and do a clean installation again
with the latest r752:
http://www.mediafire.com/?v76bdj89eitimt9
See if the wiiflow.ini is then back on your sd card. Say me how things are
going, I'll may begin with some test versions as soon as you can say me some
things how r752 and other loaders work.

Here's a list of what I've tried:

1. Deleted old wiiflow folders and files from Sd and placed new wiiflow mod
r752 files - no result
2. Launched wiiflow through hbc directly (without farwarder) - no result
3. Format Sd Card & reload all data - no result
4. Delete most of apps from sd card - no result
5. Change the wbfs folder in the usb hard drive and placed only one game in it
- no result
6. Changed the hard drive - no result
7. Erased anything not needed in sd card like nes or wii 64 roms - no result

What I've noticed is that r752 cuts down some of the startup time instead of
r743 but still is too long. Also it finaly places its files in the Sd NOT in
the usb drive. Still no wiiflow.ini. I do have to ask again: Is there a way to
force wiiflow to generate the file? where does it place it?

I also tried different loaders as instructed:

usb loader gx v 2.3: takes some time to ''intialize sd card'' (20-25sec) but
loads the game right away
Configurable usb loader v70 using ios 249: everything works fine

To give you a better picture of whats happening:

I launch wiiflow
Black screen pops up - long wait
wiiflow animated icon pops up - short wait
wiiflow interface pops up - everything works perfect
launch game
wiiflow animated icon pops up - very short wait
Black screen pops up - very very long wait (5-8 min)
Game is loaded and works

extra info:
my 8gb Sandisk microSDHC (class 2) is formatted to FAT32 whereas the other 2gb
Sandisk ultra ii SD (class 4) is formated to FAT. The 8gb SD card can only be
formatted to FAT32 and exFAT

wiiflow auto creates a wiiflow.ini on the first writable device its finding. I
guess somethings fucked up with the partition table, you may should completely
reformat it with new partition table and stuff and then try it again, thats the
only thing I can imagine what creates the delay.

What if I manually placed a wiiflow.ini in the sd card? Could you upload your
.ini file so I can try it on my sd?

As I stated in comment 16 I already re-partitioned and formated the SD card.
I tried both NTFS and FAT32

In the end, the question still remains:

why does the Sd work with wiiflow 3.1 and Doesnt with wiiflow 4?

[ PROBLEM SOLVED ]

I was searching the net for a possible way to format an SDHC card to FAT16. I
found out that there is none!
But I sampled upon an application that solved my issue.
It is called mkdosfs
http://www1.mager.org/mkdosfs/

I reformated my SDHC card to FAT32 and renamed the drive's label to 'Wii'

Now wiiflow STARTS UP RIGHT AWAY as well as the games I launch

Please note that I tried this method with other software as well as windows
common way for formatting a drive. mkdosfs is the only thing that got the job
done

TIP: I had an older issue with wiiflow. When I place a new game in wbfs folder
in usb drive wiiflow doesnt bring up that game in the games list. Its as if its
not in the usb drive. The WORKAROUND is to place an original game in the wii's
dvd drive and install the game via wiiflow settings menu (2nd page). when game
installation is done all games are in place.

[ PROBLEM SOLVED ]

PS. Thanks for all the help and the quick response

To get the new game visible, just press home to enter the home menu and press
reload cache, because if you manually add a game then wiiflow cant know about
it so it doesnt automatically reloads it ;) Great that its solved, so I was
right with my thought :)
