I have a Japanese NTSC Wii, the game is an original (I bought it) PAL game.
when i try to load it with the softchip it just shows a green screen
straight away. nothing i do will reset to wii menu, i have to keep the
power button on the wii pressed for 5 secs or so to get the wii to reboot.

Please provide any additional information below.

Indiana Jones and The Staff of Kings is a 002b game. You are using cIOSrev10 
which
includes a main.dol patch for 002 error, that's why you get a green screen 
freeze.
Also, use Fake IOS Version instead of Remove 002 Protection, that otherwise it 
would
produce the same error with sane cIOS(rev7, 13a, 14 or 17) too. Also a green 
screen
freeze is caused by using a video mode not present in a game, so if you would 
still
get the freeze, try with disc region video mode.
