That picture was taken in 480P mode the same issue still there if i select
480i and 576i

Original issue reported on code.google.com by osteho...@gmail.com on 20 Feb 2009 at 4:10

If you are able to select 576i, your Wii runs in PAL video modes. A green screen
freeze is mostly caused by video mode problems, so did you try disc region
video mode?

I tried that too...
This is how i have tried:
480i -> Connected to TV (Region changed Wii to Japan) (same issue)
576i -> Connected to TV (My Wii is orginal PAL) (Same issue)
480p -> Wii2VGA converter connected to a Samsung 22" PC LCD Screen (Tried in
PAL and
when i region changed my WII)

Also tried in PAL mode and Japan region on Disc region Video mode... same
issue...

The thing that is a little strange is that i get to the menu and i can select
difficulty and then it load's and then it get the green screen for 2 secounds
and
then it returns to the Wii System Menu!

I can post screenshots of the whole proccess or i can record a movie?
Just post a comment if you want a recording or screenshots or any other
information
(when using 576i or 480i mode)(Sorry cant record in 480p)

There's no need to record, but you could have mentioned, "green screen after
selecting difficulty for 2 seconds and then restart" in the 1st post. Do you
know if
the game works in japanese Wiis? Which IOS is requested by the game? (Get this
info
from the log) How sure are you that you don't have a bad burn?

More Info:
 - IOS requested by the game: IOS 35
 - I have no idea if the game works in Japanese Wii and i have no way to test that.
(but i think it works)
 - I have burned 3 disc's and all have the same issue :'(

Could be some region protection, general copy protection or a bad .iso. I can't
help
you, i can only suggest to wait for some results from people with NTSC-U and/or
NTSC-J Wiis. And a test from a cioscorp user(NTSC!) would return useful
information.

Looks like it's too easy: You need to IOS Version patch the .iso before burning.

Hmm, i got the report that it only work IOS Version patched when launched with
Gamma(or from disc channel with cioscorp). Could you test the game (IOS Version
patched to IOS249!) with this test version:
http://rapidshare.com/files/200770753/metroid1test1.zip.html

and with the beta backup launcher?

Ok, i got the report it's not working in this test version. So for now it's not
working in SoftChip, only in Gamma. But it should be possible to fix this, we
only
need somebody to figure out which difference between Gamma and SoftChip makes
the
game not to work.

Now i have burned a DVD with IOS249 setting using IOSPatcher.

I tried "http://rapidshare.com/files/200770753/metroid1test1.zip.html"
And that give me nearly the same result as the orginal Softloader(with the new
DVD)
it crashes about 2 secounds into the loading(of the first level) and its no
Green
shit anymore...
it returns to the wii menu!

Tested with the standar DVD gives the Green shit in 2 secounds before returning
to
Wii menu when trying to load the first level!

Using Backup Launcher Gamma with Unpatched DVD and the one DVD patched to
IOS249
gives the same results as with Softchip

But the one strange thing i noticed....
When im using SoftChip and starting the DVD patched with IOS249 the softchip
reports
back that game wants to use IOS 56...
But if i use the standar DVD it reports it wants 35...

Using the standard Softchip (R84) it dosent work(With patched ISO to IOS249)
Using your "Metroid1test" softchip it dosent work
Both softchips does now NOT crash with the green shit and does NOT return to
the wii
menu it just freezes the Wii

Using Wiigator's gamma-loader it does WORK! (Yiippy)

You guys just need to find the difference between softchip and Wiigators
gammaloader

I have a new test version if you want to test it:
http://rapidshare.com/files/202103246/metr...1test2.zip.html

It's SoftChip r86, with some changes to memory stuff, a micro change to the
discID
reading and it doesn't do ES_Identify. There are 2 differences left, but i
don't want
to touch them. SYS_ResetSystem(SYS_SHUTDOWN, 0, 0); instead of
__IOS_ShutdownSubsystems and open the partition with IOS_Ioctlv instead of
IOS_IoctlvAsync. At least these are the only "major" differences" i can see.

Next try:
http://rapidshare.com/files/202123108/metr...1test3.zip.html

Test3a uses the same subsystem shutdown method as Gamma, test3b is test2+test3a.

To run the game in SoftChip with a softmod, you need either cioscorp installed
or to
IOS Version patch the game to IOS249 before burning. And you need SoftChip r87.
