Please fill out the following information:

Problem Disc: RE: Umbrella, Bully (Didn't test any other)
--------------------------------------------------
Disc Region: EU / PAL
Wii Region: EU / PAL
cIOS Version: 249

Which SoftChip revision are you using?
--------------------------------------------------
r88

Please describe the issue you're having
--------------------------------------------------
I get in all ( the 2 i've tested so long ) games black bars on the left
and right sides of the screen. This changes the aspect ration of the games
and reduces the image quality.

Please provide any additional information below.

What video mode do you use? PAL50, PAL60 or progressive?

Do you get the same issue with Gamma?(really important question)

Yesterday I tried with gamma and got the same problems. Tried forcing pal50,
pal60,
ntsc but it didnt change anything. The Wii is set to Component and is connected
to
the tv with a component cable.

I think now i get it: You are using a 16:9 tv? Did you set your wii to 16:9? Is
your
tv a hdtv(lcd, plasma or whatever)? If yes, enable progressive video mode and
try
with that.

these are my settings:

32" 16:9 lcd screen
wii connected with component cable

wii system menu settings:
16:9
480p edtv/hdtv

When booting regularly the games are fullscreen. The games i tried with
softchip have small black bars on the sides of the screen. Maybe 1/3 of the
size of the bars you get when playing in 4:3. Theres no progressive option
in softchip. I can only choose between to video modes: force wii region
and force disc region which make no difference.

Hmm, maybe it happens because libogc uses NTSC 480p for all progressive video
modes.
You can't select progressive video mode in SoftChip, it uses it automatically
if you
set your Wii to it. For now i don't have any idea how to fix this, sorry.

other hb like mplayer ce have the same issue with the black bars in 16:9 and
480p. i
was told i would be fixed in the next release. you might want to get in contact
with
the mplayer ce team.

I tried to reproduce this behavior, but with no luck. I can't set my tv to 480p,
because i don't have component cables. If i set my Wii to 16:9 with 480i, the
Wii
menu is 16:9, all homebrew looks the same as before and the games(only tested
Wii
Sports) are in 16:9. I have to add, it's full screen, but 16:9 ratio, and not
4:3
with black bars, i have to change my tv to 16:9 output to make it look
correct(tv
16:9 broadcasts are usually 4:3 with black bars, that's why i mention it).

New video code should take care of this.
