That looks to be only applicable to alpha builds, not stable releases?
SlicerPE for linux has a stable version that's almost 3 months old and has some issues, it's recommended to use Alpha (so basically everyone use it if they're on linux) but you're right, if someone still uses the stable one this won't be applicable for that person. I'll update the readme to accommodate both versions :)
