reimplement inventory? #35

Hi @vsoch is there a reason inventory is commented out? Iirc it had a significant impact on workflow startup times. Would be happy to dig into any issues with it to get it back in.

No good reason - this storage interface wasn't fully developed.

Oh, so this is not the same implementation from before (ie Snakemake<8.0)?

It should be, there just hasn't been anyone to work on it!
