3 years ago I'm having this same issue, but I think I've found the reason: It only happens when you shoot while moving/jumping. The gun sprite hangs behind the player's movement a bit, so the bullets are released inside the player sprite.
Hello there,
Every once in a while, when I try using a firearm, i get instantly killed; making firearms unusable in this game. As the shotgun fires pellets, and when I die from using it I see no pellets leave the barrel of the gun, I assume the pellets must've spawned inside my character's hurtbox. I looked around for explanations as to why this happens, but I wasn't able to even find it being mentioned by anyone.
I'm playing the stable version of this game.
