There must be a subtle issue in physics or handling #5

Open mcphail opened 6 years ago

Last night, I played this game online against someone who claims to be "good at driving games". Despite this attribute, my opponent struggled to stay on the track, often rebounding from barrier to barrier like a rabid pinball, despite him "stopping talking for a minute to get a lap in". He was consistently thrashed by all the lesser drivers on the server.

I can only surmise there must be a problem with this snap which affects the physics or handling. I'm sure this bug can be easily reproduced, so would you be kind enough to investigate? I can make myself available for further testing.

#wontfix

popey commented 6 years ago

Confirmed. I have been able to reproduce this issue.

@flexiondotorg I think maybe you meant to use #cantfix ?

lucyllewy commented 6 years ago

I agree, I am terrible at this game, which can't be correct at all!

flexiondotorg commented 6 years ago

This misrepresentation must stop!

It might be that the OP misread "I am good at drinking games", which actually produces same effects in real life "racing"...

got kicked from a server once with an error message that said that my physics weren't good, pretty sure that servers validate the physics.

I think this is an endemic issue that affects multiple racing games. I saw someone having this trouble in a twitch stream playing Hot Shot Racing and kept disappearing out of view by jumping off the track into space. They blamed a player called Monica and there was lots of giggling from another player. I believe this game and HSR must be using the same broken physics library

Please don't close this bug report whilst the problem persists and, by many accounts, is getting worse.
