Integrate Bridgy with Hive #1369

Open PranzEduHub opened 1 year ago

A big majority of apps built on that platform use https://hivesigner.com for the auth. Would it be possible to add it?

snarfed commented 1 year ago

Probably, sure! I'm not familiar with it myself, but PRs are always welcome. Here's how: https://bridgy.readthedocs.io/#adding-a-new-silo

Hive looks like a blockchain platform, ie not quite a social network. Is there one on top of Hive? If so, that's what we'd add here as the new silo, not Hive itself.

Looks like there are a bunch on https://hive.io/eco?t=social , but I'm not familiar with any of them, and I don't know if any Bridgy users use or care about any of them.

Tentatively closing. Feel free to reopen if you want to add details on which specific social networks/apps you'd want to add to Bridgy!

I am using most of them for a very long time, and Bridgy for a month or two. It is too bad that Instagram and Facebook ( or Meta~~~) decided to make such an issue.

I've been part of the Hive community from its inception in 2016, and after, when the community and developers with basically all their apps branched away from Steemit we became Hive.

Hive is a decentralized blockchain-supported social network with numerous frontends like the ones on the list, the same as Mastodon is federated and decentralized. The social category on Hive.Io includes blogging, microblogging, and video platforms. So, many different things and different sorts of content.

Many of the developers and bloggers on Hive already have their own personal websites elsewhere and could integrate Bridgy. It will be great if Bridgy could add at least one of the frontends.

I recommend, if it is possible, the hive()blog as it is the main one, and includes content posted across all the others.

Thanks for all the detail! Reopening. If you're part of the Hive community though, the much better approach is to add webmention support to hive()blog and any of the other social apps directly! They wouldn't need Bridgy then. Details: https://indieweb.org/friendly

Also this is not to be confused with https://www.hivesocial.app/, which is unrelated.
