👋 Thanks for opening your first issue here! If you're reporting a 🐞 bug, please make sure you include steps to reproduce it. We get a lot of issues on this repo, so please be patient and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
Snipe doesn't allow filtering assets, licenses or accessories by Category. All assets of any/every category are listed together under the same structure when clicking into their respective dashboards, with no delineation.
I'm not sure what you mean here. You can see assets, licenses, etc by category by clicking on the category: https://demo.snipeitapp.com/categories/2
Allow the assignment of individual Product Keys/Serial Numbers per seat
and
More robust filter options, allowing us to filter by multiple criteria would be very welcome.
There are existing tickets open for these features
@snipe for clarity on the category filtering, what I mean is being able to first choose from a list of your categories in the primary asset/license/accessory dashboards on the left side panel, rather than being brought into a page with every license, asset or accessory in the system.
The second photo is a rough mockup of how this category list would look. You'll see a list of hardware categories which you can choose to filter to by default when viewing "assets".
This also allows quick switching between different categories, and avoids having to navigate to a cumbersome Categories page. I say cumbersome because it is both out of the way under the Settings menu and also lists every category of every type, with no delineation between hardware assets, licensing and accessories.
If I want to see my Laptop assets, I currently have to go to settings > categories and search through all categories I've created. It would be much easier to navigate to Assets > View a sidebar list of each Asset Category created > Choose Laptops, all within the same page.
@snipe Additionally we wanted to follow up on your comment about assigning individual Product Keys/Serial Numbers per seat and more robust filter options.
Is this something actively being worked on which we can look forward to in the future, or are these feature requests shelved for now?
Also would love filtering. I believe people have been commenting here too about it, despite it being closed mistakenly: https://github.com/snipe/snipe-it/issues/6187
maybe a fast solution should be to have a search / filter for each visible column
Add another +1 for filtering as well as more options in the advanced search. I am currently trying to see the status of laptops from a specific order but there is no way to search for all the devices from a specific PO. Best you can do is sort by Purchase cost but if several purchases were at the same price it becomes impossible.
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Our company would very much like to migrate to Snipe in the near future but we've run into some major shortcomings that are offered by many other IAM systems, limiting functionality and general usability:
There is no robust filter options that allow multiple criteria to be used, only a simple search box. (ie; filtering assets by category, status & end of life date at the same time)
Snipe doesn't allow filtering assets, licenses or accessories by Category. All assets of any/every category are listed together under the same structure when clicking into their respective dashboards, with no delineation.
Cannot assign licenses specific product keys/serial numbers per seat. Each individual requires a separate license entry when using product keys that aren't shared.
No notes or license ID views available when using the Seats section of licensing.
Describe the solution you'd like
More robust filter options, allowing us to filter by multiple criteria would be very welcome.
Assets, Licenses and Accessories should have the option to be sorted under their parent category within the main dashboards.
Allow the assignment of individual Product Keys/Serial Numbers per seat
Allow a column view of notes & license ID information in the Seats section of a particular license
Describe alternatives you've considered
No response
Additional context
Column View of Notes/License ID mentioned under Seats request.
Rough image of how the Asset Parent Category view would work. Click Assets > View a list of each category in a sidebar > click asset category you wish to view and show only those assets. Allow quick switching between categories to avoid having to navigate to cumbersome Categories page.
