[Feature Request]: Category Views, Robust Filtering, License Keys per Seat

Our company would very much like to migrate to Snipe in the near future but we've run into some major shortcomings that are offered by many other IAM systems, limiting functionality and general usability:

• There is no robust filter options that allow multiple criteria to be used, only a simple search box. (ie; filtering assets by category, status & end of life date at the same time)

• Snipe doesn't allow filtering assets, licenses or accessories by Category. All assets of any/every category are listed together under the same structure when clicking into their respective dashboards, with no delineation.

• Cannot assign licenses specific product keys/serial numbers per seat. Each individual requires a separate license entry when using product keys that aren't shared.

• No notes or license ID views available when using the Seats section of licensing.

Describe the solution you'd like

More robust filter options, allowing us to filter by multiple criteria would be very welcome.

• Currently, we can only find assets by searching criteria in a text field. A robust filtering system that would allow us to filter assets by any field criteria would be one of the greatest improvements to the system overall.
• Almost all IAM systems allow filtering like this. An example would be wanting to find all Macbooks currently Deployed in a specific location. In other IAM's, you can typically just select the specific criteria and get a number and list of all those assets and export that data to a .csv if needed.

Assets, Licenses and Accessories should have the option to be sorted under their parent category within the main dashboards.

• An example would be clicking into "List all Assets" > Brings you to a list of Asset Categories (ie; Mobile Phones, Laptops, Tablets) rather than plainly listing thousands of different types of assets under one view.
• From the category view under Assets, you can easily navigate into which Category you're trying to browse and list all assets of that category type only. This should also remain persistent between sessions.
• Currently, you do this by viewing your "categories" dashboard, but this dashboard hidden under sub-menu's and additionally includes every category not relating to hardware assets as well. Whether you're trying to filter through Hardware, License or Accessory categories, it's less than ideal to find those categories by searching through a separate multi-page category section mixed with every category created across the board.

Allow the assignment of individual Product Keys/Serial Numbers per seat

• The license and category view is currently difficult to navigate due to the fact that software which requires individual unique licenses per user have to be created separately. One of the greatest functions SnipeIT has is the way check-in/check-out works with licensing per seat, requiring only one "License" in a category with X amount of seats. This works wonderfully for software without individual product keys, but very poorly for those with non-shared keys.
• Allow us to assign individual product keys which can be checked-in/checked-out to seats under one umbrella, rather than creating X amount of individual licenses per key. This is very cumbersome when you have hundreds of license keys requiring tracking.

Allow a column view of notes & license ID information in the Seats section of a particular license

• There is no check off option for notes or license ID information under the Seats view within a particular license. This would be hugely beneficial, particularly if the previous request of individual product keys per seat is too big an ask. At least in this way, we could notate what each seat's license key is and have a column view of that note under the Seats view.

@snipe for clarity on the category filtering, what I mean is being able to first choose from a list of your categories in the primary asset/license/accessory dashboards on the left side panel, rather than being brought into a page with every license, asset or accessory in the system.

The second photo is a rough mockup of how this category list would look. You'll see a list of hardware categories which you can choose to filter to by default when viewing "assets".

1. Click List all Assets or view Licenses
2. Brings you to a list of each available category in a sidebar
3. Click the asset category you wish to view and show only those assets

This also allows quick switching between different categories, and avoids having to navigate to a cumbersome Categories page. I say cumbersome because it is both out of the way under the Settings menu and also lists every category of every type, with no delineation between hardware assets, licensing and accessories.

If I want to see my Laptop assets, I currently have to go to settings > categories and search through all categories I've created. It would be much easier to navigate to Assets > View a sidebar list of each Asset Category created > Choose Laptops, all within the same page.

Is this something actively being worked on which we can look forward to in the future, or are these feature requests shelved for now?

maybe a fast solution should be to have a search / filter for each visible column

Add another +1 for filtering as well as more options in the advanced search. I am currently trying to see the status of laptops from a specific order but there is no way to search for all the devices from a specific PO. Best you can do is sort by Purchase cost but if several purchases were at the same price it becomes impossible.
