Feature Request: Multiple product key under one Software #4729

Open hiboucochon opened 6 years ago

hiboucochon commented 6 years ago

For a software with multiple product keys, is there a way to add them under one Software entry? I'm currently on 4.1.9 version.

Is there any update on this feature request? It would be nice to have this option since my company has a lot of Acrobat license keys.

stale[bot] commented 6 years ago

Okay, it looks like this issue or feature request might still be important. We'll re-open it for now. Thank you for letting us know!

Can't let this request go stale. I have seen multiple other threads with the same request closed, this seems to be the sole survivor. Please add this feature. Adobe and also Fast Track have this issue. I have 100 license keys and having 100 individual license objects for each is tedious. If they could all go under one object the experience would be greatly improved. Not every software has volume licensing.

Supersaki commented 5 years ago

+1 We have unique product keys as well as vouchers for client certificates that this would be extremely useful for.

stale[bot] commented 5 years ago

Is this still relevant? We haven't heard from anyone in a bit. If so, please comment with any updates or additional detail. After 9 months I am still very interested in this.

Supersaki commented 5 years ago

Any movement on this? This would still be a very helpful feature.

+1 I have just started using Snip-IT and when importing my software license info, this issue was my (very close)second "ah-crap" moment when looking at where to put my License Keys/Seats info. (First oh-crap was the size and behaviour of the Notes field. Small and jammed over to the right cutting off longer text.)

ebricca commented 5 years ago

there is the seat concept, which seems to be now persistent ( #4413 , which seems to have been resolved with pull https://github.com/snipe/snipe-it/pull/5887)

what would be nice, resolve the issue for me is to have a comment per seat (import comment on seat)

( the checkout comment can currently be used for tracking, though doesn't seem so nice, an external secondary spreadsheet would have to be used for unassigned (all) serials though the spreadsheet could be added as file-upload to the license which I see as workable )

afield1235 commented 5 years ago

I'd rather have the actual requested solution implemented, not a work around. Good suggestion but it takes away from the goal of this thread. GLPI does this.

snipe commented 5 years ago

I'm not sure what the actual requested solution is. A longer field for the product key? You can already put multiple product keys into that box.

In my mind, what I'd like, is something like the seat option but for individual keys for a software. Seats are, for me, when you have something like O365 where you can re-assign and have no actual keys. This, for me, is when you have one piece of software but say, six keys.

At the moment you can put all the keys in there but then no way of tracking or knowing which machine that key is used on. Seats is a workaround but I'd like to track the keys not just a seat so I know which key I can give out to a user to license their product. I hope that makes sense.

afield1235 commented 5 years ago

That is the exact ask. One object called Adobe (not volume) with unique keys you can assign to individual users.

Right now, you need to make one entire Adobe object per key.

Volume licenses work as expected with “seats”

snipe commented 5 years ago

How do you know which keys have already been used, or which are assigned to which user?

pn-taylor commented 5 years ago

That's really the point, right now it's a manual note, it'd be great to just check it out to a user or machine.

afield1235 commented 5 years ago

Current:

Adobe 1 - Key: XXXX-XXXXX Assigned to Steve Adobe 2 - Key: XXXX-XXXXX Assigned to Bob

What we want:

Adobe Key 1: XXXX-XXXX - Assigned to Steve Key 2: XXXX-XXXXX - Assigned to Bob

snipe commented 5 years ago

So it doesn't sound like you need a longer key field, you're really asking for a product key to be set at the seat level.

afield1235 commented 5 years ago

That's right

pn-taylor commented 5 years ago

Pretty much, yeah

Same Issue. I've got 100+ License Keys for the same product and as of right now i have to add individual entries instead of making one with 100+ seats and license keys

afield1235 commented 5 years ago

Is this on the roadmap?

adamfortin commented 5 years ago

Would like to know too...

mikeypeaches commented 5 years ago

Very interested in this feature.

sebal87 commented 5 years ago

V5 will likely have multi asset creation. So maybe afterwards multi license key bulk licenses? :)

afield1235 commented 5 years ago

This seems like an essential feature. I do see Volume licensing taking over but lots of small vendors only do individual license keys.

imaginethatca commented 5 years ago

This is also at the top of my need list for Software. Currently the seats a a bit redundant as I have to record all info in the small clumsy notes field. I want to know for each license key, who has it, when they got it, when it was purchased, when it expires, needs renewing etc. Currently we can't tie license keys to seats. Please keep this active, many thanks.

afield1235 commented 5 years ago

To be honest I’m really surprised this hasn’t been implemented. I’ve look through requests and this is the single biggest change you could make to add value. I’ve stuck with this software for a while but I am going to back to GLPI. It’s older, Outdated UI etc. but at least it allows licensing per user. Does no one care about this? Priorities need to be re prioritized?

desmondgc commented 4 years ago

This would help us a lot to keep the license list organized. We have a lot of one-off licenses for Windows, Office, etc. which just clutter the UI right now. I'd love to be able to associated the product keys with seats that are associated with each laptop / user.

Still desperately need this feature. At some point even if delivered I'll be too deep in the old way to undo the mess. There are plenty of license we need to add that don't offer volume and adding individual Software assets for each license is a hassle and makes it difficult to re aassign open licenses.

pfglobal commented 4 years ago

Yep, this would come in really handy!

LegacyMindset commented 4 years ago

This would be fantastic! I would provide a drastically cleaner initial License menu
