Ability to create a custom linkable field (e.g. attach another user to asset) #7544

Server (please complete the following information):

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. We'd like to be able to attach another user to an asset. This is different than a checkout. Think, adding a specific administrator to an asset.

Describe the solution you'd like A custom field that can be used to link other users (maybe even assets, but that's not what I'm requesting). It would function the same as any searchable dropdown.

Describe alternatives you've considered Using a standard custom field. While this works we would like to avoid the use of free-form text fields. The suggested functionality would have a built in search and allow unique identification of users.
