This shouldn't be necessary, what makes you want to do this?

Doesn't compile on 10.7 without this change.

Why? xerces has been removed from the latest rat.

It's a geant compilation error, will check but one of the libraries built there is linked against a xerces library.

Will try a fresh install on Monday

Weird, in a current snoing directory the install doesn't work, it's fine with a fresh install though.
