Can't capture handshakes. #61

What steps will reproduce the problem?
I am using Ubuntu Server 11.04 with the rt2800usb module. I started off by installing all the recommended applications including the compat-wireless patches.

I have my own wireless that I like to test everything out on so I choose that
network and add a device to it while I am running wifite. It still says that
there is no handshake captured. I decided to start up airodump-ng on my Gentoo
box, I was catching the handshakes there but not Ubuntu. I decided to switch
them around with the same result. Gentoo is using the patch ath5k module.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Captured handshakes.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
r82

Please provide any additional information below.
Gentoo: Atheros AR5001X+, Aircrack-ng 1.1, MAC changer 1.5.0, Python 2.7.2 w/
added tk USE Flag, Pyrit 0.4.0, cowpatty 4.6

Ubuntu 11.04: Ralink Technology, Corp. RT2870/RT3070 / USB, Aircrack-ng 1.1
r1959, MAC changer 1.5.0, Python 2.7.1+, installed python-tk from apt-get,
Pyrit 0.3.0, cowpatty 4.6.

Thanks for the detailed issue!

If you have pyrit installed, wifite will use Pyrit to check for handshakes.

Pyrit's methods of checking for handshakes are much more thorough than
aircrack's methods, which can be incorrect (I have gotten numerous false alarms
using aircrack to verify handshakes).

The method Wifite uses to check for handshakes is pyrit's "analyze" feature,
which scours the .cap file looking for "good" or "workable" handshakes.

I am updating Wifite to include more features, and one feature is the option to
choose how handshakes are verified. I *just* wrote a feature which checks a
.cap file for a handshake using 4 programs (aircrack, pyrit, cowpatty, and
tshark).

If you are interested in being an alpha tester, I would appreciate any feedback
on the latest version. The updated version is kept on github:

https://github.com/derv82/wifite

If you're up to the challenge, feel free to email me on gmail or Gtalk at
derv82, or use the Issues page on github to give me feedback. If you'd rather
not, I completely understand.
