Using MacType to change font of applications #858

Is it possible to configure the MacType font replacement to replace app default fonts? I'd love to do that. I have my default Windows font changed, which applies to most of the apps, but some apps still use their own fonts (and some are really ugly & wrongly placed with high DPI). I'd love to use Montserrat Alternates as my font in every app. I love the MacType app & been using it for years.

If someone could create a profile with the replacements I'd really love that. I'd do it myself if I trusted myself more. The same kind that the "ChicoThorn" is.

There are many different font technologies out there and MacType font replacement only works with Windows GDI. If an app is using, say GDIPlus or DirectWrite or even renders its font directly with freetype, there is nothing mactype can do to influence its appearance.

But it does use GDI and mactype still failed to replace its font, there is still one thing you can do that may help. Which is the "fontsubsitution" option. You could try to set it to 2 instead of 1.

I recommend you to only apply this change to the specific application you want to use since the way it works may cause some applications to display incorrectly and become unusable.

The fontsubstitution is exactly what I want to use. I think it'll work just fine (just need to set all fonts to change to Montserrat Alternates except fonts with Chinese for example).

Well... It's only a minor inconvenience. Most of my fonts are already set to Montserrat Alternates. Just few apps refuse to follow my Windows settings (they have their own fonts set up).

I kinda hate that devs force certain fonts instead of offering options / using the default OS font options.

Do you think you'd have the time to create a profile for me? It'd help out a ton.
