Migrate to goavro #43

The library we're using to handle avro records (https://github.com/elodina/go-avro) hasn't seen any activity for almost two years.

Furthermore, https://github.com/linkedin/goavro seems to be more feature-complete.

I thinked we looked at this a while back... There was some reason why we went with go-avro, but that reason might have been wrong then, or be wrong by now.
