As a atom beta user, I've always hated the default off-theme icon.
Now it fits nice with my desktop!
Note:
If the default atom icon is still present on dock and app switcher when it's running, just add do /usr/share/applications/atom-beta.desktop file:
StartupWMClass=Atom
