Actually, this issue is solved in Papirus https://github.com/PapirusDevelopmentTeam/papirus-icon-theme/issues/1271#issuecomment-423416841 Unfortunately some input method is not supported now. Mozc input method is one of them.
@wundrweapon Mozc input method has hardcoded icons. That means it can not use custom icons.
This screenshot shows fcitx in the default state (as intended), but also with Mozc in use (though it should be using the Mozc logo (just the image on the left, of course)).
Works as expected in Ubuntu Mate.
I don't mind the lack of a custom icon for something of so little importance, but I would like a working icon change. It works fine for me with Manjaro/Xfce/Vertex-Maia, but not on Void/Xfce/Paper. Is there any quick bodge I can make to the Paper files to get the icon to update properly?
On Xfce, fcitx will update its icon in the notifications area of the Xfce Panel to match the current input method. However, this does not work while Paper is active. As this problem also existed on Papirus, I believe this to be an issue in Paper as well as I am experiencing the same problem with Paper in use. This screenshot shows fcitx in the default state (as intended), but also with Mozc in use (though it should be using the Mozc logo (just the image on the left, of course)).
Apologies if this isn't actually a Paper issue
