This is obnoxiously difficult. There's a set of python files that don't work well in the container-type setups that I like to use, and all my gcmfaces grid files are from the five-tile version, not the 13-tile version. This ostensibly simple task would take a while to sort out, and I'm not sure it's worth it. The mixing coefficients aren't a measure of where mixing is strong, anyway, as that depends on both the coefficients and physical parameters. So it's possibly not that useful. Closing for now.
