Mmm I see that game does not have an antimodchip, according to redump, but has EDC protection instead. Did you make a copy including the subchannel data?
Did you make a copy including the subchannel data?
Thanks for the prompt, i didn't check when i burned the disc. I will aim to burn a fresh disc now and check the settings for the subchannel data, will report back soon all being well.
....o.k so i burned another disc (via Alcohol 120%), checked the subchannel data settings, all looked good and the same settings including the subchannel data (staying un-corrected) were set by default.
Since TonyHax, i have burned with these same settings about 20 backup discs (using verbatim & taiyo yuden) and 100% of the games worked perfectly. Many Japanese shumps' with EDC protection, like "Zanac x Zanac", "R-Type Delta", "RayCrisis" all worked perfectly too.
Just not "DoDonPachi", however, some interesting results for "DoDonPachi" discovered by 'mistake'...
Using TonyHax v1.3.3, when the "SPS" anti-piracy screen comes up, if i wait 1 to 3 minutes then the game actually goes to its main menu and is playable, see photo below.
...so it seems although the "SPS" anti-piracy screen comes up - it doesn't actually stop any gameplay. I tested this a few times, and each time after 1 to 3 minutes the "SPS" anti-piracy screen goes away and the games loads up.
Maybe we can close this issue case now? Seeing as the game works anyway and it might just be an odd exception?
Tonyhax version: v1.3.3 Game name: DoDonPachi (Japan) (Taikenban version) Game code: SLPM-80286 Executable hash: MD5 same as here:- http://redump.org/disc/33583/ Triggered at: Screen shows few seconds after TonyHax has loaded the executable. Is the console chipped?: no.
Console = PS1 (SCPH-102) BIOS = 4.4 (2000-03-24) E
Please see the photos of the antipiracy screen(s), the 1st screen is the "SPS" one, then followed by another antipiracy screen.
I checked how the game should load with an original disc, and the "SPS" screen is just a logo without any other text, i.e, without the paragraph in Japanese (the "blah, blah CD-ROMi blah, blah") like the backup disc has.
Screen 1
Screen 2 (comes few seconds after screen 1)
All the other backups of Japanese shumps' i have tested work perfectly with TonyHax v1.3.3, just "DoDonPachi" is being difficult.
