support `cabal new-build` #10

This looks sensible to me, although I'm not particularly strong with bash nor travis. It looks like travis did the right thing.

I've added a comment about running the tests with new-test.

Thanks a lot for the review, @gwils! I've merged this, could you somehow test that this works for you now from master? If yes, I'll cut a release to hackage.
