Export Raw HTML/CSS/JS #165

Open Gibsonion opened 5 years ago

Gibsonion commented 5 years ago

The ability to export the RAW HTML/CSS from designs made in the Oxygen builder.

Use cases: Using Oxygen's ease of use design facility to design HTML only websites. To use on sites where Oxygen can't be used. Either clients don't want to use a builder, or the platform is not compatible. Bug testing/sharing designs on coding sandboxes like JSfiddle etc. Just to name a few.

I would LOVE this feature. I design landing pages for paid traffic and want to be able to run them on a VPS for speed, and also insert php into the pages and test them, etc.

There are a number of plugins that do this already. https://wordpress.org/plugins/simply-static/ https://wordpress.org/plugins/static-html-output-plugin/ https://www.hardypress.com/

Thanks Chris. I've tested WP2Static with Oxygen numerous times and it has not worked. SimplyStatic is no longer being updated. HandyPress looks good but that's a hosting service, not an export feature.

This could be very useful to build small websites that don't need Wordpress. This could work like Webflow (that allows to export code) or Pinegrow.

I absolutely like the idea and I hope that Luis and his team can implement this great feature. I am building websites and cross platform web apps and use Oxygen for building websites only. But my workflow for an app could also be done in Oxygen. Usally I use Oxygen for both the prototype and the final website. If building an app the workflow is a little different. I am using Figma or XD to prototype the app. After I need to rebuild the whole prototype in the choosen framework e.g. Angular or Vue. BUT if it could be possible to export components (parts) or the whole site from Oxygen layouts/prototypes could be shared with the client and code (HTML + CSS would be more than enough for my workflow) could be used for developing the app.

I know that this is not the original porpuse of Oxygen but atleast the argument that the code could be used for a static site that was built in Oxygen is just great. Just common, this can't be too hard. I would love to help.

Edit: I read that Oxygen is inspired by Webflow that is also pretty popular and feature rich: They got the export feature and it's heavily used.

As a non coder I am having to deal with the intricacies of learning Bootstrap Studio to design and export HTML for static page funnels - for non WordPress projects....

Oxygen Builder's ability to design responsively in each device view... to make changes separately in each resolution is missing in Bootstrap studio - epic fail.

Anyway, this feature would would put Oxygen Builder in a class of it's own... This is one of those features that once added will make people think how they could ever have gotten on without it.

I am in the same boat, although I have more experience with BSS. I've been able to recreate some pages in BSS that I've made in Oxygen, but it takes much longer, especially when making them responsive. There is no comparison, I would rather use Oxygen. I've used Blocs App for Mac however, now that I have a Linux machine I'm unable to use that app. Glad others see the value this would add to both users and Oxygen as a business.

This would be great

It could actually even be a possibility to make oxygen a webflow competitor, why not just offer it as an app thats just a local wordpress installation with only oxygens menus with the code export. Can we get feedback if this feature is on the horizon? Raw code export without wordpress i mean

stafi commented 3 years ago

This type of feature would be a super solution. Especially for customers who are less technical. No need to fight wp infections.

A feature that works as export - import (edit) - export, would be a revelation.

+1

Surprised this hasnt been addressed with this much attention and considering how old this thread is. Can we get some more love on this?

knut-studio commented 2 years ago

This would be really useful to make small projects, like landing pages for marketing campaigns! 😄

noografo commented 2 years ago

I would love to have this feature in Oxygen Builder, it would make life and work much easier.

pedrotski commented 1 year ago
