better move item in Structure tree - sensitive area #1845

Describe the feature you'd like to see included in Oxygen. Is it very difficult move item in the Structure tree panel, especially in a large structure. Move item and put to right place in the Structure tree is really nightmare. Other items in the Structure panel do not respond and user try move 7 times and more.

New feature: better area for move - sensitive area for move item in the Structure panel.

What are the use cases for this feature? Use case: all

Examples of this feature or functionality. If user takes item and try move item in the Structure tree panel, than will be great if will be possible change end of all other items (icons area of all items) to sensitive area where will put moved item and place under selected item by sensitive area. Icons will change to sensitive area mode only in move item.

I'd add what Browser / OS you're using as well for case scenerios.

I'm on a Mac and have had that problem for years.

We're seeing this in both Chrome and Safari on Mac

+10000 if I'm understanding this issue right. Please, please fix this. It's a small nightmare everytime when re-ordering page elements in the strucure panel. I was really hoping this would be fixed by now since it's just been buggy core functionality since I bought the builder years ago. I'm primarily in Chrome on Windows 10 for what it's worth.

We've made some improvements in 3.8 beta 1, which is now available. I'd be interested in hearing whether these changes solve some or all of the issues you've experienced with the Structure Pane drag & drop.

I don't think the drag & drop in 3.8 beta 1 is moving better than before. Rather, I had to click on the tiny icon in the structure panel to move it. To me, it's worse than before. Is it possible to use shortcut keys to move up or down?

If I add up all the time I try dragging and dropping within the structure panel to change the order of items... and having it not do anything or only work 10% of the time. So much time wasted. A shortcut key or context-menu choice to move up/down would be great.

Agreeing with @zuroma999

The high lag of the drag-ghost and low precision of finding your target in the Structure Panel is a major productivity killer to me.
There better be complimentary keyboard-shortcuts for moving within the same level or moving up/down levels or a cut/select-target/paste workflow.

Maybe the lag in the Structure Panel is related to #2490 ?

Drag and drop in the structure panel is still bad. It just doesn't move items at all in many cases.

I just tested with Firefox Dev with the newest Oxygen 4.1. This needs another big overhaul ASAP. It's also unsatisfactory when potential new customers detect that long term pain point of Oxy not being completely fixed in years.
