[Oxygen 2.3 RC1] Design Sets - Confusions & ideas #267

First, this feedback is only based on my tests. As there is no documentation or tutorial yet, it's not easy to understand how it works. That's why it has been pretty confusing too. It's like using Oxygen for the first time, without checking any tutorial videos ;)

I - WHY IT'S CONFUSING There are too many options, for something that should be simpler and easier. We have Design Set options in pages, in the Block Library, in Templates and in the editor for the sections. Just have a look at the screenshots. You don't really know where to start and what to do. We also have categories for pages, categories for sections, we have screenshots for templates but we don't even know where do they go ?

II - HOW TO MAKE IT BETTER a/ the option "include the sections in this page in the library" should only include categorized sections in the library. We don't necessarily want to share all the sections of a page, so with this fix, we won't have to copy the sections somewhere else, just to create screenshots. It will help A LOTS.

b/ all the blocks (in the Block library) are included in the library. So the people who have your Key will see them all. We should have an option to choose if a block has to be included or not.

III - BUGS If one section is hidden (display:none), it will failed while generating the screenshots. The sections will still appear in the library. Sounds normal as you can't take a screenshot of something not visible, but the process will stop and the other sections won't have their screenshots either.

IV - SOLUTIONS Well I don't really have solutions. I just have some ideas:

a/ Right now we don't really know which pages and sections are included in the library. We have to open Oxygen Builder and go to Library to see what we are sharing. And if we want to remove one element, we have to go back to the page where we share it, and...I even don't know how to remove them. It would be much more convenient if we have one place where we can see clearly all the pages and sections that are included in the library. So we can easily manage them, and remove the element we don't want to share anymore. Something a bit like this:

And then it could replace the Block Library, that I find quite useless.

Please comment if you have more suggestions.

Thanks for the great feedback.

Here's our current draft documentation for the User Design Library feature: https://oxygenbuilder.com/documentation/design-library/user-design-library/

Hopefully the documentation (and forthcoming video) will help clear things up, but there is definitely room for improvement in the UI/UX department on this feature.

@mikeingz If you're able to review the documentation, please let me know how helpful you found it for understanding the use of the feature.

The documentation definitely helps. It's still confusing because there are many options but the video will be perfect to understand exactly how it works. Just one thing, don't forget to mention that the blocks will all appear in the library. Because it came as a "surprise" to me. I didn't expect that at all. I thought it will work like pages.

I was able to install a website as a design set from another wordpress site using oxygen. However when I install the website and view the front-end, the pages are duplicated below the footer. On the back-end there is only one page and when viewing the pages in the oxygen builder, you don't see the page duplicated below the footer, everything looks as it should. Has anyone experienced this? Is this a bug? I would like to be able to quickly install the template from the library without the duplication of the pages below the footer on the front end.
