DONE: Add support for MetaBox.io #302

Add support for another cool CF framework Metabox.io (https://metabox.io/) as ACF has this too.

For example I want to use the Oxygen gallery element with the Metabox Advenced Images https://docs.metabox.io/fields/image-advanced/

Which will going to output the Oxy gallery from MetaBox field.

Yes please! This would be great, especially since metabox.io is faster and the only framework that supports custom database table storage for fields. That's huge for developers

I spent the last few days rebuilding a few BB sites in Oxygen and am in love. I just decided to move onto a CPT/CF site and tried going back from MetaBox to the apparently Oxygen-preferred ACF and it was painful. Oxygen + MetaBox will be awesome!

When implementing this feature, please make sure it works with the Meta Box Custom Database Tables extension: https://docs.metabox.io/extensions/mb-custom-table/

Custom tables are still fronted by normal custom post types, so it usually works fine. But it may need a few tweaks to get it working.

The developer would be happy to test this and provide feedback

This is really needed. custom database table is really needed and Meta box is I think the best option for this.

I contacted MetaBox and asked them if it was compatible with Oxygen. This is what they said:

"Partly. Oxygen works well with normal fields, but not for cloneable and group fields yet."

Good question. Oxygen implements features which has the biggest support from users. But they never tell anyone what is going to be implemented, no roadmap, etc. I am curious when the time is coming 😄 for us.

Please atleast start with adding support for the form's JS etc... I can't use conditional display in the front-end form if I use oxygen although it works anywhere else...

The way Meta Box stores data for normal fields is exactly the same as WordPress store custom fields. As far as I know, Oxygen works with default WordPress custom fields, so it should work with Meta Box fields without any problem.

@IdeaOutline Meta Box has some unique extensions including a custom database tables extension: https://docs.metabox.io/extensions/mb-custom-table/

For that to work, a proper integration using the Meta Box helper function needs to happen: https://docs.metabox.io/rwmb-meta/ This function also takes care of object caching, so the performance benefits are twofold (custom db tables + caching)

Do we really need another paid plugin integration? Pods integration should be a priority because it's free and open source, while being very powerful and easy to use.

Actually unlike ACF, Meta Box core is free, open source and in the WP repo. And has over 500,000 active installs: https://wordpress.org/plugins/meta-box/

Pods has 90,000 active installs: https://wordpress.org/plugins/pods/

Native integrations for both would be great but they should be prioritised in order of userbase.

Meta Box is so much better than Pods. There really is no comparison in the capabilities.

Elementor added integration for MB. Time for Oxygen to keep up with its #1 competition!
