Release 1.0 #19

Hi! It looks like this crate has been doing a good job of doing its thing for a while. What do you think about a 1.0 stable release? Are there any blocking design questions or issues lurking that need to be solved before that can happen?

@softprops I think the time is ripe for a 1.0 release. The API for this crate has been stable for a fairly long time, and it has seen wide use that I think proves out its API and implementation. What do you think?

@softprops It would be great to get a 1.0 release of this crate, even if it's just the API that exists today. The API we have today has been stable for years. I think it's time to just push out a 1.0 release.
