same issue
I have Hybrid app native and web with typescript I try every possibility on presets "@babel/preset-flow" and plugins such as "@babel/plugin-syntax-flow": "^7.10.1", "@babel/plugin-transform-flow-strip-types": "^7.10.1", "@babel/preset-flow": "^7.10.1", "babel-plugin-transform-flow-strip-types": "^6.22.0",
none of those not working looks like a deep conflict between type script and flow
it's my babel config
module.exports = {
presets: [['@babel/preset-env', { modules: 'commonjs' }], '@babel/preset-typescript', '@babel/preset-react'],
plugins: [
'@babel/plugin-transform-runtime',
[
'babel-plugin-module-resolver',
{
alias: {
src: './src',
},
root: ['./src'],
extensions: ['.js', '.ts', '.jsx', '.tsx', '.ios.js', '.android.js'],
},
],
[
'babel-plugin-inline-import',
{
extensions: ['.svg', '.html'],
},
],
],
}
maybe with using @babel/plugin-transform-flow-strip-types instead on 'react-native-gesture-handler' and a clean build our problem will resolve
same issue Please help. Build crash. #840
same here. Is there any workaround? I've tried many plugins but still not working.
Using this webpack.config.js i managed to remove the error but i'm getting another one 🤔

Hitting same issue. Same as others, using RN in a hybrid app with React Native Web.
@chichke @doongsilee
This looks like the result of not transpiling your react-native
dependencies with the right set of presets/plugins.
When creating a cross platform react-native
app using react-native-web
you need to transpile any react-native
dependencies you may have in node-modules
.
This is because react-native
dependencies are not usually published as transpiled or isomorphic browser-friendly versions as normally they'd be piped by react-native
through metro-react-native-babel-preset to perform any transpilation necessary to run on iOS or Android.
However metro-react-native-babel-preset
is a very heavy preset and will create very large bundle sizes for the web and potentially create other issues on web.
So when targeting the web you need to make sure that you:
babel-loader
loader to your webpack config for any react-native
dependencies you may be usingIf you used create-react-app
to create your web application (and have ejected it) then add the following presets to the options of each react-native
dependency's babel-loader
:
babel-preset-react-app
which adds in the majority of common plugins you'll needbabel-preset-react-app/dependencies
which forces Babel to detect any non-ES6 modulesSo something like this:
{
test: /(@?react-(navigation|native)).*\.(ts|js)x?$/,
exclude: [/react-native-web/, /\.(native|ios|android)\.(ts|js)x?$/],
loader: 'babel-loader',
options: {
presets: [
[
require.resolve('babel-preset-react-app/dependencies'),
{ helpers: true },
],
['babel-preset-react-app'],
],
...
If this is a new error and your webpack config was working previously it's also possible that your loader test regexes are not being hit correctly so you might want to take a look at those.
@chichke @doongsilee thanks!
Removed the RNGH from the webpack exclude list for babel loader, it worked with react and flow babel presets.
Still experiencing this as well, @abhisingh03 could explain a little more what u did to fix it?

In some how expo web build fix that! Use expo
Basically to target web, you need to update your webpack config to add 'loaders' to transpile all your react-native dependencies through whichever babel preset contains all the plugins you need.
babel-preset-react-app
is a good one for the reasons mentioned above.
I can confirm that the @doongsilee it's working
nano ./node_modules/react-scripts/config/webpack.config.js
add ['module:metro-react-native-babel-preset'], into presets for test: /\.(js|mjs)$/,
Is any ideas for making this customization without changing the webpack inside the node_modules?
I've posted a very detailed answer for this and related issues here (its the accepted answer):

Can you clarify exactly how to add this into presets under test: ?

Add @babel/preset-flow (https://git.io/JfeDn) to the 'presets' section of your Babel config to enable transformation. If you want to leave it as-is, add @babel/plugin-syntax-flow (https://git.io/vb4yb) to the 'plugins' section to enable parsing.
