Es wird sowohl "artifacts" (AE) als auch "artefacts" (BE) verwendet.
Im ersten Teil sehe ich ggf. Kürzungsmöglichkeiten. Erst nach ungefähr der Hälfte geht es um's eigentliche Projekt. Andererseits sehe ich die Bestandserhebung durchaus als wertvoll an.

Replaced "artefact".
Do not shorten paper for preprint. Metadata formats, mapping etc etc candidates to be removed for real publication.
