UC4/US1 Share my long term soil experiment (meta)data #9
As a researcher running an agricultural LTE within a research institute,
I want to share my experiment metadata and data with the SoilWise repository
so that my research- and experiment results become visible within the soil community, and I can connect with fellow researchers contributing to the collective knowledge in the field.
Extended user story description:
As a researcher running an agricultural LTE within my institute, I want to effortlessly share the key details of my experiments with the SoilWise repository. This includes uploading metadata, relevant files, and setting privacy preferences. By doing so, I aim to increase my visibility and networking opportunities within the soil research community. I expect that other researchers can easily discover my experiments, reach out for collaboration, and properly cite my work when they use my data. Additionally, I would like to receive notifications about any activity related to my experiments, ensuring that I stay engaged with the community and promptly respond to queries and collaboration requests.
I expect following functions in this context:
[ ] User Registration: The repository should provide a user-friendly registration process, allowing me to create an account and manage my profile. Business reason: It allows LTE holders to foster a sense of belonging within the research community, which can lead to more meaningful connections and collaborations. This, in turn, can drive user engagement and loyalty, making our platform a go-to destination for LTE community.
[ ] Metadata Upload Form: The repository should support the practical upload of experiment metadata, including details such as experiment name, location, duration, key variables, research objectives, and any other relevant information. Business reason: A user-friendly metadata upload form streamlines the process of inputting experiment information.
[ ] Profile Management: I should be able to manage my user profile, including adding relevant personal and research information, such as my name, affiliation, research interests, and contact details. Business reason: This feature adds practical value, making our platform a reliable tool in their research workflow.
[ ] File Attachment: I should be able to attach files (e.g., documents, images, datasets) related to my experiments to provide comprehensive information to the repository users. Business reason: Supporting the attachment and management of various file types related to experiments is crucial for data integrity and accessibility.
[ ] Data Privacy Settings: The repository should allow me to set privacy preferences for my data, including options for making metadata and attachments publicly accessible or restricted to specific users or groups. Business reason: The implementation of privacy settings empowers researchers by giving them control over who can access their data. This not only respects the need for data protection and intellectual property rights but also encourages more researchers to share their data on our platform. With this feature, we create a trusted and safe environment for data sharing, attracting more users and increasing our platform's value.
[ ] Search and Discovery: Users should be able to search for experiments based on different criteria (e.g., location, keywords, experiment type), and my uploaded metadata should be discoverable by other researchers. Business reason: Researchers are more likely to engage with and contribute to the platform if they can easily find data and peers relevant to their work. This, in turn, boosts the user engagement and retention rates, making our platform the preferred choice for researchers seeking valuable insights.
