We noticed that cordis has 2 mechanisms to link project deliverables/publications to projects:
search for related publications in openaire using a rcn identifier (rcn identifier exists in the cordis data model)
references to the publications are stored in the cordis database
For older projects, only the second option gives results, because the documents are not in Cordis yet. Also interesting to investigate how cordis manages duplication between both methods. Seems for newer projects, the openaire query (via Cordis api) only returns non-publication types, such as datasets and softwares.
