"default value of option force_s3tc_enable overridden by environment." seems to be a notification about a self closed
"created new window in existing browser session" seems that it can be avoided, according to a web search, by passing --user-data-dir. I don't know why it should matter. The web inspector passes --profile-directory=Default which seems to be similar but not quite the same. This may not be relevant either...
The fact that you see messages from Chrome in your Sublime console, must mean that Sublime has attached correctly. Why chrome should open /after/ that, I have no idea.
Unless someone has Ubuntu and can reproduce this, or there's more details, I don't think anything can be done here.
It's been a month since the post above, without more info I can't proceed as I don't have Ubuntu. If it's still not working, with the latest version, feel free to reactivate and maybe we can gather more info.
I tried installing both via clone and by using package control. But it didn't work. I can see this message in my Sublime Text 3 console:
ATTENTION: default value of option force_s3tc_enable overridden by environment. Created new window in existing browser session. [Finished in 0.6s]
And then the chrome opens up with my Default home page.
