Can We Recover Token From Rugged Project?

Summary An NFT project I bought into had a token on its roadmap that is consistent with the branding. The founder rugged. I want to save the project. How can I get control of the token? Or can I delete it from the token list and create a new token, and register that with the same name? I can prove the project is rugged.
Other information (e.g. detailed explanation, stack traces, related issues, suggestions how to fix, links for us to have context, eg. StackOverflow, personal fork, etc.)

OK but want that name - is it possible? They are sitting dormant in founders wallet which has gambling activity and he's been AFK for 6 months.
