there have been known issues on some OSX versions with the drivers for the chinese clone of Arduino using CH34X chip, this issue tries to concentrate efforts and information in this regard. Please provide specific details below :

osx version: macOS Sierra 10.12.4
device: MacBook Pro 13" - early 2011 (model DRJ7) - https://support.apple.com/kb/SP619?locale=en_US
