I definitely agree that we should be pulling down the SOLIS photospheric magnetograms as they are much better resolution, but GONG gives better full-day time coverage. So, we need to be careful with the logic applied to selecting which image to display.
From past discussions I recall that one of the goals/remits of SolarMonitor is to show the most up-to-date conditions. On occasion, that will mean that worse resolution data is preferentially displayed. However, I think that we only step down through the instrument priority order if there is no data from the higher priority sources.

We should add SOLIS LOS photospheric magnetograms as an alternative to HMI and GONG. e.g., http://solis.nso.edu/pubkeep/vsm_current_m630l_hr.fits.gz
